Fred Cook

Fred is a dedicated professional known for his unwavering commitment to the well-being and development of the individuals he serves. His approach to working with people is marked by open communication, trust-building, and a genuine dedication to their growth and empowerment.

Fred’s core philosophy centres around the power of positive reinforcement and providing unwavering support to individuals. He believes that by appreciating their efforts, even in the face of setbacks, individuals can be empowered to make positive changes in their lives. Fred is a compassionate listener who refrains from attempting to fix problems outright; instead, he listens, validates feelings, and guides individuals towards finding their own solutions, ultimately empowering them to enact meaningful change.

As humans, we can all benefit by grounding ourselves in nature. It provides us with a healthy circuit breaker to escape the day-to-day pressures of life. Through a positive connection, I believe we can experience healing and growth which can both enlighten and empower us to make positive change.

During his tenure in Residential Care, Fred applied the Therapeutic Care-Sanctuary Model to collaborate with colleagues and vulnerable children, aiming to foster healing and personal growth. His focus was on equipping young individuals with essential life skills and the necessary support to ensure a brighter present and future for them.

Fred’s dedication has also taken him up north to Broome and Kununurra, where he worked closely with young Indigenous children from outer communities, spanning a wide age range from 2 to 16 years old. Given the ever-evolving dynamics of the home environment, Fred’s ability to manage and adapt was critical in maintaining a safe space for both the young people and the staff.

Fred’s commitment to continuous learning and reflection on his practice underscores his ongoing quest to enhance his skills, knowledge, and work practices within the field. His multifaceted experience and holistic approach make him a valuable asset to any team dedicated to the well-being and growth of vulnerable individuals.

My goal is to build positive and long-lasting relationships, built on honesty and trust with the aim to promote healing, growth, and positive change.
